The first Vacirca Brothers’ Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy was officially established in Zurich in 1995, and the first European GJJ Network (Gracie Concepts) was founded the following year.

Franco, also known as ‘Professor de Jiu-Jitsu’, was the first European to earn a black belt in BJJ in Rio de Janeiro. He remains the highest-ranked European today, holding the prestigious 7th degree Coral belt. He completed his training as a BJJ instructor under Grandmaster Pedro Hemetério.

Technique over Strenght.

The philosophy of “technique over strength” centers on the idea that the proper execution of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) techniques can overcome physical attributes like power and size. This principle is deeply rooted in the history of BJJ; it was developed by grandmaster Hélio Gracie, as a way for smaller people to defend themselves against larger opponents.
